CHRISTINE WILSON

MS JONES THE POSTIE

Christine’s love of musicals started at a young age with her grandmother, but it wasn’t until she saw Wicked in 2010 that she decided to try treading the boards herself. In 2013 she appeared in her first musical which is also her all-time favourite movie, the Wizard of Oz as a member of the ensemble.

Loving this experience so much Christine has continued to perform as part of the ensemble in various shows over the years including the Music Man, The Wiz, West Side Story, Oliver and Avenue Q.

Christine ventured into theatre in 2014 appearing as Anne DeBourgh in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice her favourite period novel. Shortly after in 2015 she received a fantastic opportunity, her first speaking role as Fiona the Irish Maid in the Fall of the House of Usher. Wanting to continue growing as an actor Christine sort out more theatre shows, in 2016 she played the role of Hannah in Little Women where she first met Simon Walker who at the time played the role of Laurie.

Christine truly tested her versatility and scope as an actor in 2017 when she was cast in three shows back to back first she playing the very bitchy and shallow Elaine in Calendar Girl, then the saucy and slightly promiscuous Margaret in Much Ado About Nothing performing opposite Simon who played the devious Borachio and finally living the dream of every girl playing a princess, Belle in Beauty and the Beast. Christine finally awarded the chance to show off her singing voice this year appearing in a funny, family musical The Island which was written and directed by Glenn Levett.

After years of growing and honing her skills as a performer Christine finally received the opportunity she had been working so hard for, her first leading role playing the shy but strong-willed Fanny Price in Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park; opposite her as Fanny’s best friend and love interest Edmund Bertram was once again Simon Walker.

Shortly after Mansfield Park Christine was awarded the pleasure of playing the shy, turned wild, turned religious Annelle in Steel Magnolias, a beautiful piece of theatre that is close to her heart. You may recall Christine has appeared in Pete Boone before as Major Machoo who ran the old western town of Out West Pennant Falls in the final gun slinging episode of season eight, which was her first television appearance and she had a lot of fun doing it.

She was most grateful and thankful to continue the fun had on this show when David the director, writer and creator asked her to come back as a reoccurring character this season, the very chirpy, bubbly, tea loving Ms Jones; local postie of West Pennant Falls who will no doubt be pulled into many potentially dangerous and life-threatening situations with Mr Boone and Mr Simon.
